Episode Notes:

Dr. Nandy Toro from Vertebre Chiropractic Studio in Winter Garden addresses the most common myths about chiropractic care that patients bring up every week.

From the misconception that chiropractors only “crack backs” to the false belief that you’ll need treatment forever, Dr. Toro sets the record straight on what chiropractors actually do and don’t claim to treat.

If you’ve ever been curious or skeptical about chiropractic care, this episode clears up the confusion and explains what evidence-based chiropractic treatment really involves.

Hey there, this is Doctor Nandy Toro from Vertebre Chiropractic Studio here in Winter Garden. Thanks so much for tuning in today.

You know what I hear almost every single week? Someone tells me they thought chiropractors just crack backs all day… or that we’re trying to cure cancer with adjustments… or my personal favorite, that once you start seeing a chiropractor, you have to go forever. And I just have to laugh because none of that is actually true.

So today, I want to set the record straight and tell you what we really do. Because honestly, when people understand chiropractic care, they get so much more out of it.

Let’s start with the biggest myth. No, we’re not just back crackers. That popping sound you hear during an adjustment? That’s just gas releasing from the joint… like when you crack your knuckles. But what we’re actually doing is restoring proper movement to joints that aren’t moving the way they should. Think of it like a rusty door hinge. When a joint in your spine gets stuck or restricted, it affects how your whole body moves. It creates tension, changes your posture, and yeah… it usually causes pain.

Our job is to find those restrictions and get things moving correctly again. And here’s the thing… we use our hands, sure, but we also use instruments, gentle mobilization techniques, and we teach you exercises. It’s not one size fits all.

Now, the second big myth I want to tackle. We don’t claim to cure diseases. You won’t find me telling you that an adjustment will cure your diabetes or get rid of your allergies. What we do is help your musculoskeletal system… your bones, joints, muscles, and nerves… function better. And when your body is moving well and your nervous system isn’t being irritated by mechanical problems, you often feel better overall. But that’s not the same as curing disease. We stay in our lane.

And that myth about coming forever? Look, I’ll be straight with you. Yes, some people choose to come in regularly for maintenance care, kind of like going to the gym or getting a massage. But you’re never locked in. My goal is always to get you feeling better, teach you how to keep yourself healthy, and empower you to make your own choices. If you want to come in once a month to stay feeling great, awesome. If you want to come in only when something flares up, that’s fine too. You’re in control.

Here’s what I want you to take away from this. Chiropractors are trained doctors who specialize in the spine and nervous system. We go through years of education, we take board exams, and we focus on helping people move better and feel better without drugs or surgery. We work with other healthcare providers. We refer out when needed. And we’re part of your healthcare team.

If you’re dealing with back pain, neck pain, headaches, or you just don’t feel like your body is moving the way it used to… that’s exactly what we’re here for. And if you’ve been putting it off because you believed one of these myths, I hope today cleared things up.

I’m Doctor Nandy Toro at Vertebre Chiropractic Studio right here in Winter Garden, and we’d love to help you feel your best. Give us a call or stop by anytime. Thanks for listening, and I’ll catch you next time.
